James Woodson Eagle Scout Project

St. James alum James Woodson, Class of 2023, chose to give back to St. James through his Eagle Scout project! With the help of friends, classmates, and fellow St. James alumni, James spent part of his summer beautifying and improving our playground to create an even more fun and welcoming space for our students. We love seeing our alumni continue to give back to the St. James community! Read below for James’s description of his project.

“Over the summer, I had the chance to return to my former school and help elevate the playground, and it turned out to be one of the most meaningful experiences I’ve had since graduating. A group of volunteers, mostly friends and classmates from the Class of ‘23, came together to make the space more fun, welcoming, and useful for the students and staff who use it every day.


We painted a fresh four‑square court, added a tricycle track, and marked a basketball free‑throw line to give kids more ways to play and stay active. We also assembled new planter boxes and filled them with soil to bring some life and color to the area. On top of that, we cleaned up the existing playground structure so everything felt refreshed and ready for use in the fall.


What made the day truly special wasn’t just the work we finished, but also the people who showed up. Having so many classmates from ‘23 come back to help made it feel like a mini‑reunion. It was a fun project, and it brought everyone together to serve our former school.”
